On Saturday, August 4th, the 7th annual Hamptons Paddle for Pink will take place in Sag Harbor, NY. The donations raised by paddlers in this Stand Up Paddleboard race go to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), which is dedicated to ending that diagnosis of breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research. Founded by Evelyn H. Lauder in 1993, BCRF funded research has played a critical role in every major breakthrough in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survival.
The Hamptons Paddle for Pink was founded by Maria Baum — a Sag Harbor resident, mother of four, and breast cancer survivor. Maria is an investor and entrepreneur who created Tutto Il Giorno and Dopo La Spiaggia restaurants, as well as Splash Mixers, following a successful career as a derivatives trader on Wall Street. Maria discovered Stand Up Paddleboarding shortly after being diagnosed with breast cancer and found it to be a therapeutic outlet during her treatment and subsequent recovery.
Inspired by her own passion for the sport, Maria was moved to use paddleboarding as a way to raise critical funds for lifesaving breast cancer research. She started The Hamptons Paddle for Pink & Party in 2012 — and the evening soirée has become one of the hottest signature events on the Hamptons summer circuit.

I am proud and honored to be paddling again this year with Team SOS. Team SOS represents the “Soul of Sport” and the reason we are paddling together. We founded the team last year, raised over $17,000, and won the prize for most money raised. It’s one of the most special trophies I’ve ever received… but we want another!
This year we set the bar at $25,000, and have already blown thought that. We’re not done however — far from it! The record is $40,000 plus, and I’m using every platform I have to smash that target. We need each and every one of you. As I always say, there is no such thing as a small donation, so please give what you can… it all adds up! Let’s help BCRF end this disease which has touched so many of us — whether first hand, a family member, or friend — and end this game of Russian Roulette forever.
